This page summarizes the retention windows and deletion boundaries that apply to MarketingStride customer data.

Customer Data Retention and Deletion Summary

Active Accounts

If your account is active, your customer history remains available while the account stays active. Expiration-based retention clocks do not begin until the paid term ends.

If You Cancel Renewal

If you cancel renewal, your service stays active through the end of the current paid term. Retention clocks do not begin when you cancel. They begin only when the subscription expires.

After a Subscription Expires

After subscription expiration:

  • Customer analytical history is retained for 18 months
  • Generated artifacts such as downloadable files and report bundles are retained for 6 months
  • Operational artifacts used for troubleshooting and continuity are retained for 6 months

Generated artifacts may be removed before customer analytical history ends. When underlying customer history remains available, reports may be regenerated even if a specific downloadable file is no longer retained.

Discovery Purchases

Discovery is a one-time purchase. If you do not convert through a qualifying commercial product, Discovery data is retained for 90 days after purchase.

If a qualifying commercial product is purchased before that retention period expires, the Discovery history becomes part of the customer's retained account history and follows the applicable subscription retention schedule.

When the Retention Clock Begins

For subscription customers, the retention clock begins when the subscription expires, not when you cancel, not when you download a file, and not when a report is generated.

For Discovery customers who do not convert, the retention clock is measured from the purchase date.

Reactivation

If your subscription account expires, you may reactivate during the retention period while retained history is still available. Historical audits, findings, baselines, and comparisons may remain available after reactivation, subject to your current package entitlements.

Full Account Deletion

A full account deletion removes account access, properties, audit history, reporting history, and associated retained customer data. Once completed, recovery is not possible.

Data Deletion Requests

Customers may request deletion of retained customer data. MarketingStride's target is to process verified deletion requests within 30 days, unless legal, contractual, fraud, security, or regulatory obligations require otherwise.

What May Be Retained After Deletion

MarketingStride may retain the minimum necessary information for:

  • Financial and accounting obligations
  • Legal or regulatory requirements
  • Fraud prevention
  • Security investigations
  • Contractual obligations

Financial Records

Financial and accounting records such as invoices, payment records, tax records, and refund records are retained for 7 years, or longer where required by law.
